Ponta d'Ouro is situated about 10 kilometres from the Kosi Bay border in South Africa, about 630kms from Johannesburg and 460 km's from Durban. This is a popular fishing and scuba diving area especially for South Africans as you need a 4x4 vehicle to access Ponta d'Ouro.
Dolphin or Whale Sharks can be spotted and you can swim and dive with them. Turtles lay their eggs on the beaches (in season) and beach walks are great. A traditional open air market is found in the main part of the quaint town.
Surfing is also popular in Ponta d'Ouro.
