The Okavango is an immense river that never meets the sea. Instead, its crystal clear waters spread across the Kalahari Desert , forming the worlds’ largest wetland wonder, before the formidable African sun swallows the last of its outstretched fingers.

The Delta is an abundant oasis amid the vast plains and pans of the desert that covers most of Southern Africa. Its waterways are a mesh of meandering and intercepting channels, creating a haven for Africa’s most celebrated wildlife species.

Choose between two camps: Moremi Crossing or Gunn's Camp.

In contrast to the northern Okavango Delta where the waters are fast-flowing and the channels and view is enclosed by high reeds and papyrus, the channels around Moremi Crossing and its sister camp Gunn’s Camp offer far reaching vistas of the Moremi’s floodplain, grasslands and marginal woodlands interspersed with Mokolwane palm islands.

Chief's Island has one of the largest remaining populations of African wildlife in the Delta area. Sightings include lion, leoopard, elephant, buffalo, the elusive wild dog, hippo, crocodile and a variety of plains game from zebra to red lechwe.

Moremi Crossing:

Located near the most southern part of Chief's Island, Moremi Crossing is situated on a small palm fringed and treed island called Ntswi which is surrounded by the Moremi's game-rich seasonal floodplains. The main building houses a large open plan deck that has spectacular far reaching views over the Boro River onto Chiefs Island.

Luxury accommodation in 16 new-style vintage safari tents, each with its own private wooden deck and magical views over the Boro River on to Chief’s Island. All meru tents are large and airy with en suite bathrooms.

Moremi Crossing being a water based camp offers a wide variety of animal and bird species, walks on Chiefs Island give you the opportunity to get a better view of not just the big animals but the smaller insects and birds that contribute to the Okavango’s vast ecosystem. This is a 100% eco-friendly development featuring the latest in solar and waste disposal technology.

Gunn's Camp:
Gunn's Camp is one of the last few remaining luxury, vintage safari camps. Set under leafy palms and African Ebony to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunn's Camp achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness.

The accommodation offering at Gunn's Camp consists of seven fully furnished, deluxe Kenya-style meru tents with en-suite bathrooms set on raised platforms overlooking the delta plains. The honeymoon suite is built into one of the ancient African Ebony trees and demands un-surpassable views of the meandering waterways. The island is connected to the main camp by a small causeway crossing the wetlands and magically lit by a series of fairylike lanterns. Guests have access to the elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma and swimming pool.

Day 1
Your African experience starts with a short light aircraft transfer from Maun or Kasane into the Delta, taking in the magnificence of the winding, papyrus fringed channels that make up one of the worlds greatest wet land wonders from a birds eye perspective. In the afternoon explore the surrounding Okavango channels by motorboat, which affords excellent game and bird watching opportunities. In the evening enjoy dinner in the true wilderness of the Okavango Delta.

Day 2
Enjoy morning and afternoon activities with your lodge that will bring you closer and also teach you more about this amazing water wonderland. Animal species you may encounter during your experience consist of elephant, buffalo, an array of antelope species as well as predators such as lion, leopard, wild dog and hyena. The area is a birders paradise with over 240 different species inhabiting the delta. Activities are land or water borne, please see below for activities offered per lodge.

Day 3
After breakfast, fly back to either Maun or Kasane.
