Pemba

Pemba is the capital of the Cabo Delgado Province in the north of Mozambique.  It is a quaint but cosmopolitan port town with banks, supermarkets, restaurants and an authentic local market which is nearly 2km's long and sells everything imaginable.

With potholed streets, modern buildings and wooden huts, Pemba was built over rolling hills and amongst thick baobab trees.  Pemba is the gateway to the Quirimbas Archipelago as most people fly into Pemba to get to these islands.

Pemba Bay is a large natural harbor with vivid turquoise waters.  This contrasts with the plentiful Baobab trees and rolling hills.  The best way to explore this bay (third largest in the natural bay in the world) is on a dhow.

Superb beaches, phenomenal scuba-diving, snorkeling, excellent game-fishing, sunset cruises, sailing (Hobie Cat, Laser or Gypsy Sailing Dinghy), kayaking are just some of the attractions to Pemba.

Accommodation ranges from backpackers upwards and the more up-market resorts have on-site Spa's to really get you relaxed.
