Madikwe Safari Lodge:

Madikwe Safari Lodge - bedroomSet on a gentle slope nestled between two rolling hills, Madikwe Safari Lodge overlooks game-filled plains with the Dwarsberg Hills in the distance and the Marico River nearby. Madikwe Game Reserve is run as a joint venture between the North West Parks Board, the private sector and the local communities.

The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Featuring just 20 suites in three intimate camps; Lelapa Lodge (12 suites), Kopano Lodge (4 suites) and Dithaba Lodge (4 suites). Kopano and Dithaba Lodges are ideal for exclusive-use family safaris or for private safari getaways.

With huge circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools (in all suites), and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate.

An all year round safari destination where the variation in experience is temperature related rather than safari as Madikwe does not have any migratory species. The best bird-watching period is from October to April.

Children of all ages are welcome at Madikwe Safari Lodge.

Two large family suites in Lelapa Lodge (Lelapa is Tswana for family) are perfect for families with up to two children, ten years old and under. The suites all have their own pools, which keep little ones busy during the middle of the day when we don’t have wildlife activities. The pools can be covered with pool nets to ensure safety outside of swimming times.

There are many activities available for children including: Family safari drives, bush orientation, bug CSI, dung tracking, track pack with plaster of Paris, baking in the kitchen, making pizzas in the boma, star gazing, games night and much more.

Children between the ages of zero and five years stay free of charge and children aged six to fifteen pay 50% of the per person adult rate. Unfortunately no game drives are allowed for children under the age of two years and children between the ages of two and five are only allowed on the late morning family safari drive. The family safari drive for children aged two to five departs at 11:00 in winter and 10:00 in summer and lasts approximately two hours.

Getting to Madikwe Safari Lodge:
