Situated between Knysna (22 km to the west) and Plettenberg Bay (9 km to the east) on South Africa's beautiful Garden Route, is the Knysna Elephant Park where you can get up close and personal with these magnificent gentle giants - touch, feed, ride and photograph.

Knysna Elephant Park Visits:
Daily tours leave on the half hour every day from 8.30 to 16.30 from the visitor's centre and video viewing room to the elephants. Guests are transported to the elephants on a tractor & trailer where they will have the opportunity to touch, feed and photograph our gentle giants. Elephants love eating so don’t forget your bucket elephant feed. There are no barriers or fences to spoil the close encounter. Guests are then transported back to unique elephant curios shop and Askaris restaurant.

Duration
45min to 1 hour but guests are invited to stay as long as they wish.

Get a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride one of these incredible creatures. Enjoy spectacular views of the Outeniqua mountain range as you ride through indigenous Cape fynbos. Round off this amazing experience with refreshments at the lapa.

Requirements:  Moderately fit, long trousers, good walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent & camera.

The Elephant Back Safari lasts approximately 2 hours and has a minimum of 2 people with a maximum of 10 people. Not recommended for children under 6 but exceptions can be made.

This awe-inspiring experience of following the elephants’ footsteps is very similar to the Elephant Back Rides, except here you choose to walk with them at their pace. The guided nature walk takes you through indigenous Cape fynbos and offers spectacular views of the Outeniqua mountain range and Knysna forest. This is a spiritual experience which leaves one humbled and moved, it concludes with refreshments at the Lapa overlooking the forest.

Exlusive Sunrise or Sunset Elephant Back Safari:
Enjoy a spectacular African sunrise or sunset with the elephants to keep you company. This private Elephant Back Safari ensures you will have the elephants all to yourselves for that extra special occasion.

Departure is either 6.30am or 4.30pm and your Elephant Back Safari will last approximately 2 hours. Rates include either breakfast or dinner.
