Ulusaba Photographic Safaris 2012 - Learn about wildlife photography and how to take the best photos at Ulusaba in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park - safari lodge owned by Sir Richard Branson.

Explore the African bush in a truly unique way on a photographic safari at Ulusaba Private Game Reserve! Our photographic safaris are aimed at amateur photographers and will be led by Ulusaba’s professional rangers and trackers who are experienced photographers. We’ll teach you how to interpret animal behaviour so you can capture some outstanding pictures you’ll treasure forever.

There are three lodges at Ulusaba Private Game Reserve: Rock Lodge, Safari Lodge and the brand new Cliff Lodge.

Ulusaba Safari Lodge is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed, where guests will love the sense of adventure as they cross the swin g bridges between exquisite tree house rooms while elephants, bushbuck, lion and other local wildlife pass by.

Ulusaba Rock Lodge
is perched high on the summit of a koppie and provides panoramic views over miles of bush, the wildlife roaming within and the beauty of the lowveld below.

Ulusaba Cliff Lodge has two one-bedroom suites. The larger of the two suites is called Cliff Lodge 1 with a smaller second bedroom/study which can accommodate one adult or two small children. The second suite is named Cliff Lodge 2, which has one bedroom.
The two suites can be sold exclusively accommodating a maximum of five adults and four children. The exclusive use rate includes the use of both Cliff Lodge Suites, a private game drive vehicle and chef. The two Cliff Lodge Suites can also be booked individually within 3 months prior to guest arrival.

YOUR ITINERARY: What to expect…
(Please note that all timings are approximate)

DAY 1
Welcome to Ulusaba and lodge orientation

4.00pm: Afternoon tea and briefing. This is an opportunity for us to find out how much you know already and to get everyone familiar with the equipment and what to expect out on the vehicles

4.30pm: Your first game drive, stopping for sundowners in the bush

7.30pm: Back to the lodges for dinner

DAYS 2 AND 3
Leopard on roof5.00am: Rise and shine! Tea and coffee to be served in the lounges

5.30am: Morning game drive: focus on composition and lighting options (day 2) / wildlife photography skills (day 3)

8.30am: Breakfast back at the lodges

10.30am: Post-breakfast photography teaching workshop reviewing images with your ranger

12.00pm: Time to kick back, relax and have some lunch

4.00pm: Afternoon tea followed by the evening game drive

7.30pm: Back to the lodges for dinner

DAY 4
5.00am: Another early start! Tea and coffee to be served in the lounges

5.30am: Morning game drive: review of techniques learned so far

8.30am: Breakfast back at the lodges

10.30am: Final photography teaching workshop

Q: How large is each group?
Reservations are based on vehicle exclusivity for a maximum of four people. Your personalised itinerary will include twice daily game drives followed by a photographic workshop each morning to review images and techniques learned during the day.

Q: What’s included?
Return transfers from Ulusaba’s airstrip to either Rock or Safari Lodge.
Expert advice and instruction on wildlife photography techniques.
Course material with notes and information on camera functions, wildlife photography skills, flash photography in the bush, image composition and much more!
Vehicle exclusivity for a maximum of four people.
Use of monopods and beanbags to keep your camera stable on the vehicle.
Use of Ulusaba’s laptop to transfer large files to your hard drive.
All meals and beverages served in a variety of locations including top quality wines and champagne.

Q: What should I bring?
A good quality camera and lenses. Please contact us for advice when booking if you have more detailed questions about your equipment.
Battery chargers and spare batteries.
External hard drive for storing images or a laptop with a photo memory card reader (plus associated cables).

Laptops for use should you not wish to travel with your own,
Memory sticks are available for purchase in the Ulusaba gift shop,
Hiring of camera lenses from the Nikon or Canon ranges at R600 per lens per day,
Hiring of any extra equipment not included in the package. Additional monopods and bean bags can be hired at R250 each per day,

Terms and Conditions
Package is subject to availability and cannot be combined with any Ulusaba special offers or other packages unless otherwise stipulated. Packages are based on a minimum 3 night stay.
Rates exclude Christmas and New Year when there is a set minimum stay of 5 nights. Please refer to separate information for our rates over these periods.
