Tanzania is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west and by Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the South.

The main, long rainy season is from mid-March to late May when it can rain for hours, even days. Tanzania boasts the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro, which is permanently snow-capped. Mount Kilimanjaro stands nearly 6km high and is in the Kilimanjaro National Park. There are six different routes up Mount Kilimanjaro with varying degrees of difficulty and the best time to climb is between August and November. Over 25% of the country's total landmass is dedicated to wildlife parks and conservation areas.
